The Virtual Piano Pedagogue

The Virtual Piano Pedagogue is a completely new video master course in the great piano literature presented by pianist and Steinway Artist Claire Wachter. Each master topic contains sixty to seventy-five minutes of detailed commentary, extensive demonstration at the piano and complete performance of selected works. The individual YouTube segments are approximately three to sixteen minutes in length and are designed for stand-alone use or as part of the sequence within each master topic. This multimedia program includes score excerpts, biographical information and images to illustrate the music being discussed and performed. The first three videos in the master course are The Art of the Phrase, The Essence of Chopin and The Genius of Domenico Scarlatti.

The Virtual Piano Pedagogue gratefully acknowledges the generous support of The Oregon Community Foundation. The University of Oregon, The University of Oregon Foundation, The University of Oregon School of Music and Dance also made important contributions to the realization of this project. Thanks to Theresa Sizemore at The Hult Center for the Performing Arts in Eugene, Oregon and Scott Freck at the Eugene Symphony Orchestra for their significant in-kind donations. Finally, a very special thanks to Mark Findlay of Sage Computer Services in Seattle, Washington for building the Virtual Piano Pedagogue website.
